Get a Grip on Your Golf Game

Get a Grip on Your Golf Game
Spring is here! As I continue to meet new golfers, the one thing that still surprises me is how many golfers are playing with old, worn out grips. Your grip is how you are connected to your golf club and affects how you swing your golf club.
Earlier this year, I convinced a friend to update his 5 year old grips. He chose a new grip style that he really liked and I went to work. First off, we discovered that not only were his grips worn out, but they were the too large for his hand size. To compound matters, the grips were also inconsistent in size throughout his clubs. We installed the new grips at the proper size.
The next day, he went out and played a round of golf. He was amazed that his earlier inconsistent fade had turned into a consistent “baby” draw. He also noticed that he added about a half a club length to his distance. How is that possible? Well, with the new grips, he could now swing with a “looser” grip of the club allowing him to have a more fluid and natural release of the club as he was no longer having to grip the club so tight in order to hold onto the worn grips.
What are you waiting for? It’s spring and time for a new set of grips.
